Energy Saving
A water treatment program has 2 functions.
The first is to prevent corrosion and provide protection to increase the life of your asset..
The second is to prevent scale and deposition in the boiler internals as this will reduce the heat transfer capability and the efficiency of your boiler.
This will in turn cause additional operational costs through increased fuel consumption to obtain the same amount of steam.
It is important to balance the water treatment program through the quality of the water being fed into the boiler and the blow down to reduce the suspended and dissolved solids.
Too much blow down and the boiler becomes inefficient, not enough blow down and you produce scale reducing the efficiency of the boiler.
To comply with the Australian Standard AS 2593 the Boiler water total dissolved solids and the operation of the blow down should be checked daily.
